$100 Challenge Mid-Week Review

I had an unexpected hit to the wallet today and now I’m 50 cents over budget. I must try to get through the next three days without reaching for my debt or credit cards.

Here is a breakdown of where the $100.50 has gone:

Thursday:

Groceries: $13.50

Happy Hour: $7.00

Friday:

Nothing: $0.00

Saturday:

Pizza with friends: $15.00

Sunday

Afternoon tea: $55.00

Gas: $10.00

I budgeted $40 for the afternoon tea, but the champagne cost more than I anticipated. I should have asked for the price before I ordered it, but I got caught up in the moment.

The Challenges:

  • Forgoing my daily latte from the local coffee shop
  • Worrying about the price of gas and whether I have enough to last through the week
  • Spending a little too much while out with friends

The Easy Stuff:

  • Bringing my lunch to work rather than picking something up
  • Making dinner with friends on Friday night rather than heading to a restaurant

I shouldn’t need to spend any money over the next three days, but I’m sure I will want to. The next three days may be tough.

Maybe a lesson from this challenge was to wean yourself off of lattes because it doesn’t fit in your budget!
