The $100 Challenge

In January I created my annual budget. I figured out what I could spend per month on out-of-pocket expenses. I haven’t done a very good job of tracking what I spend or sticking to my budget.

I decided to try an experiment starting on Thursday, March 13th. I call it the $100 Challenge.

The Rules:

  1. I am only allowed to spend my $100 cash allowance on all out-of-pocket expenses including: food, gas and going out.
  2. I can carry one credit card with me for emergencies only. (The items listed in rule #1 are not considered emergencies.)
  3. I will track every purchase in a journal.
  4. I can not let my friends pay for anything for me.

I will report my progress mid-week and provide a recap next Thursday. My goal is to end the week with some of the $100 left in my pocket. Wish me luck, living in Los Angeles on $100 or less should be interesting.
