Wine of the Week

Each week I will post a wine that tastes great and won’t break the bank. All wines have been sampled by the GLOAB staff and cost less than $15 a bottle.

This week’s pick is the 2006 J.Lohr Riverstone Chardonnay.

The label looks like:

The 2006 J.Lohr Riverstone Chardonnay  is very clean. You can definitely taste the peach and citrus flavors. It was slightly acidic, but overall pretty smooth. We paired the wine with chicken and it was delicious.

You can order this wine from the J.Lohr Vineyard directly or at Wine.com. You may also find it in your local grocery store, such as Trader Joe’s.

The average cost is about $14.00.

Not a huge chard fan and this seems a bit pricey but perhaps I will give it a try. If I do I’ll let you know what I think. I recommend giving the 2006 Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo Carmenere a try. You can likewise pick this one up at Trader Joe’s. Perhaps I’ll see it here next week!

I’m not a huge chard fan either, but I liked this one. I’ll give the Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo Carmenere a shot this week and let you know what I think.

Did you ever get around to the Carmenere?

I did. I thought it was a bit peppery for me. I think I am starting to prefer whites. I never thought I would say it. I do love Pinot Noir. Do you have any suggestions on affordable Pinot Noirs I should try?
